Stretford install Laker as new Junior Manager

ML & GR

The club is delighted to announce that Matthew Laker has been elected as Junior Manager. Laker himself is a product of our successful junior section and is a long time member. His family has been heavily involved in the club for over 35 years and we are pleased that he wants to oversee a new era for the junior section. Laker has gained his coaching badges with the LCB recently and already has over 2 years experience of working and coaching young people in the county. We hope you will support him in helping to build the section.

After many years of service, Andrew Fletcher is stepping down as Junior Manager. Fletcher guided Stretford’s Junior Section to over 10 trophies and played a key part in developing many youngsters who have gone on to higher levels. We wish to express our thanks for all Andrew’s committment and effort in his role and we are grateful that he has chosen to remain part of the Junior Coaching Team as U13’s Manager.

We are proud to announce that Matt Laker has been installed as Junior Manager to oversee the development of our prestigious junior section. Together with the support of Director of Cricket, Guy Robinson, Laker is eager to make an impression;

The committee and I want our young people to have fun during training and we will bring fresh new ideas to help develop our section and players

Laker is keen to express that it’s not going to be an easy task but is confident that a constant parental engagement project is key to having an effective section;

I will be contacting all members and having regular meetings and updates to properly involve parents. Consulting parents, players and volunteers on some of my ideas and asking them for their views is a priority because we will all have to buy in to move forward.

Laker’s message is clear and one parents and members alike should be excited about;

I want our players to develop and learn new skills from the under 9’s all the way up to our under 19s t20 team within a fun and safe environment that me and my coaching team will be striving to create.
